For the new World of Warcraft player, there are a lot of game concepts you will want to familiarize yourself with, such as gold making, PvP, PvE, and a bunch of other stuff that can really seem confusing initially. To go through every one of them would take an entire book. Instead, this article will just concentrate on the different classes of characters in the game and their strengths.
I’ll begin by talking about the warrior. This class relies on brute force by doing heavy damage at close range. Warriors also make great tanks. Tanks can absorb heavy damage and will often do so. This is a strategic means to prevent other allies from taking attack.
There are also Paladins, which can take on multiple roles from tanks, healers, and dealing damage. One of the Paladin’s greatest assets is that they are able to provide buffs to other players. Buffs are spells that strengthens other character’s abilities, such as defense and attack power.
The next class are Mages. Mages are the spell casters of the game. They specialize in offensive spells that deal a high damage output to the enemy. Spell casting also give the Mages the advantage of attacking at a distance. While Mages benefit from strong spell attacks, they unfortunately have fairly weak armor, which equates to poorer defense.
Hunters are long range specialists and can deal effective damage from afar. This allows them to avoid close quarters combat, and minimize chances of taking damage. Hunters also stand out in that they can have a combat pet by their side. These constant companions can deal additional damage as well as act as tanks.
Priests are often the medics of the team. Instead of attacking and dealing damage, they specialize at healing allies and negating the effects of harmful spells casted on team members.
Shamans can assume various roles and switch between casting offensive spells and healing, as well as deal direct damage. This makes them flexible as they are able to assume whatever role is most needed at the moment.
Warlocks are summoners and can call on demons to aid in battle. Their other specialty are casting spells such as poison that deals gradual damage to the enemies at normal intervals.
At last we have the Rogue. This class is great at dealing close range damage, but their most vital ability is stealth, which allows them to ambush enemies, often leading to a kill with minimal to no damage.
So there it is, the classes you have to choose from in World of Warcraft. With this knowledge in mind, you should have a better idea of which style will best suit your play preference, and stick with that class.
